I didn't know that any Atlantic Salmon where in the Salmon River during the middle of July. Hell, as far as I knew the DEC were disgusted at the lack of success that they had been having in reintroducing the fish. I had decided that I would spend the afternoon casting some dry flies to the numerous trout and small salmon that inhabit the Salmon River in upstate NY. After a couple of hours of catching numerous browns, rainbows and baby salmon, I decided to go sub-surface and see if I could pick ...

How do you trout fish in Germany Oct 18 - Oct 24?

We are traveling to Germany Oct 18-24th and staying in Baiersbronn. This is about 45 minutes from Stuttgart in the Black Forest. 10 years ago I drove through the black forest and saw the little winding streams. All I could think about was my dad and how he would love to fish there. Well, I am finally taking him. The problem is I can't seem to find out WHERE WOULD STILL ALLOW FISHING IN OCTOBER? I've called over there, but no one seems to know anything or speak English well enough. I've asked ...

Colorado's Fly Fishing Heats Up!

Hello all. After a being sidelined from a torn achilles the past 6 months, I have been waiting for this time of year. Colorado's fly fishing is starting to turn to great. After a record snowfall this last year, and record amount of rain this spring, the rivers are starting to come down. The water flows are falling and clarity is increasing. I have fished the last couple of weekends and have had good success, with the best months still to come. If you get a chance get out to Colorado in ...

Using an indicator

I have never use an indicator, I know that there can be benefits as to why you would need to use one, but Have always been curious, when an indicator is needed, I have always felt the line when a trout hit 90% of the time and with using light leaders I would think it would effect the way you cast and the presentation of the fly, also how far up the leader would one need to place an indicator, and I've seen styrofoam to yarn type indicator, anyone has any ideas or help explain this to me
