I had decided that I would spend the afternoon casting some dry flies to the numerous trout and small salmon that inhabit the Salmon River in upstate NY. After a couple of hours of catching numerous browns, rainbows and baby salmon, I decided to go sub-surface and see if I could pick ...

I know that carp will be spawning soon in my neck of the woods and I have found that using corn has acheieved great success.

An individual called me earlier this week to get directions to my shop. I'm located off the beaten path and it can be hard to find. He said he had a crack in the handle of his casting rod that needed to be looked at and possibly repaired. When he arrived and showed me the rod, the last four inches of the handle were at a right angle to the rest of the rod and dangling by a small bit of graphite. He asked if I knew what would cause a rod to crack like that; obviously still not willing to admit ...

What astonished us both were the different abundant of fish species we caught, they weren't large but fairly nice size ones compare to fresh water species.

People are just more mobile, the world really is smaller, and easy to transport multi-section rods are the key to being able to take your trusted gear along regardless of mode of travel.

Improvements in ferrule technology have made graphite rods of 4, 5, 7 and even 9 sections possible that perform extremely well and fit almost anywhere. Manufacturers are ...

I ran into a very interesting topic on the Boise Valley fly fishers website, in 2009 theres a pike minnow fishing programs that pays anglers between 4-8 dollars a fish for pike minnows over 9 inch long, these fish are destructive to the smolts populations along the snake and columbia river drainage

This program isn't about extinction of the pike minnows formerly known as the (Squaw Fish) but these programs help the Salmon population as these pike minnows prey on the smolts, very interesting.
